Duterte receives a 65% approval rating and a 55% trust rating

The first quarter poll of PUBLiCUS Asia Inc done on 20-29 March 2021 has been released. The purposive sampling survey composed of 1,500 respondents of registered voters were drawn from an online research panel of approximately 100,000 Filipinos maintained by Singapore-based firm.

Approval and trust ratings of PRRD remains at a high for a president in his last fifteen months in office. Duterte registers at 65% approval, nominally lower than his total approval in December 2020 at 70%. His trust rating stands at 55%, lower than his trust rating of 62% in December.

Senate President Vicente Sotto secured the second spot in terms of approval rating at 40% while Vice President Leni Robredo registers at 29% approval. Retired Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta’s approval rating is at 28% while Speaker Lord Velasco has 25%.

In terms of trust, Vice President Robredo registered 19% with a distrust rating of 49%. Sotto had 25%, Peralta at 15% and Velasco stood at 14%.

The Top 3 agencies in terms of overall approval were TESDA (61%), AFP (60%) and DSWD (57%). The PNP’s total approval went down from 58% in December to 37% in this survey run.

The most trusted agencies are AFP (44%), TESDA (43%) and DOST (35%).

The survey is an independent, non-commissioned, national poll covering nine modules: state of the economy and economic prospects, COVID vaccine prioritization and openness to safety protocols, national issues, scorecard for national leaders and institutions, emotional quotient of incumbent and prospective leaders, media consumption habits and responses to media campaigns, predisposition, blended learning, and new normal consumption habits.
