PUBLiCUS Founder/CEO Sheds Light on Unique Dynamics of ASEAN Politics in APRC 2017
“ASEAN is changing.” This is one of the key takeaways from PUBLiCUS Asia, Inc. Founder and CEO Maria Lourdes N. Tiquia from her talk at the ASEAN Public Relations Conference 2017 (APRC 2017) held at the 6-Star The Trans Resort in Bali, Indonesia.
Titled Mainstreaming ASEAN, Tiquia emphasized the unique dynamics of ASEAN politics whose strength is anchored on its consensus-driven approach, redefined mobility and agility as the standard for global competitiveness.
Tiquia illustrated the unique traits of ASEAN vis-a-sis Western politics, showing how the former’s more close-knit, collective mindset influences the politics of the region and how it drives ASEAN as an economic powerhouse with US$2.555 trillion nominal GDP.
Furthermore, Tiquia also encouraged the participants to understand the political motivation behind each ASEAN leader and acknowledge that the efforts pursued by this unique composition is for the region’s economic interest.
“Understand the politics behind each leader. They may not come from the same prototype or template, but this group is trying to pursue our interest in the ASEAN economic community,” she said.
APRC 2017 is the first ASEAN public relations conference ever organized in the region, gathering renowned PR experts from the region’s reputable academic community and the competitive corporate sector from the other parts of the globe.
PUBLiCUS Asia, Incorporated was one of the lead sponsors of the event.
